This is one of the most famous views of the castle in Bratislava. I was there on a business trip last week and I managed to go out to capture this view. I was lucky to have some clouds on that evening because all the other days were clear and there were no interesting clouds. I was also surprised by the colour of the water which was quite green, as you can see. This is a two minute exposure to blur the sky and water a bit.
Few weeks ago I did a little experiment with long exposure photography. I tested some ND filters and the holder system. Filters were fine but the holder wasn’t. I sent it back to the e-shop and exchanged it for the holder system from Hitech. I tested it again and this time I’m happy with it:). This is one of the shots I managed to create with it. I’ll create a short review of these filters in the near future.
I’ve admired long exposure pictures ever since I’ve seen the first one:). I did not have the right tools up until now to try it so I was stuck with the maximum of thirty seconds. I finally got some ND filters and went out to try it out. My goal was just to test the equipment and figure out the right technique. I visited two of my favourite places here in Prague and I failed so many times I should’t even write about it:). Nevertheless, I also managed to get some decent shots, this one is the winner of the day.
In case you were interested (not that it matters), I shot this with a 4-stop ND-filter and for the sky I used 2-stop soft graduated filter. The exposure time for this one was six minutes. And by the way, this time the HDR part was in camera, not in post-processing;).
