The Carnival

The evening I went taking pictures in Toulouse was on the same evening as the Toulouse Carnival. This bridge was on the way of the parade and it was really packed with people, big cars and as you can image it was also very noisy. I captured this scene which I really liked. All the colors and reflections are things I love in photos. I don’t know if this bridge looks this way every night but it sure looks good:).

Night shots are always a bit more difficult than other shots. You need much more time for the exposure and you never know if the tripod haven’t moved during the exposure. I check the pictures afterwards because it happened more than once that I came home and all I got was one blurry image after another:). Now I know better.

I took this while standing on Pont Saint-Pierre in Toulouse. The bridge was a bit shaky so it took some time to get sharp pictures.

I’ve decided to create an HDR version of this photo from Toulouse just to see the difference. The first one is the HDR version:

And this one is just the middle exposure tweaked a bit in Lightroom:

Not a huge difference but I like the HDR version a bit more.

Toulouse Cathedral

This irregular cathedral (Cathédrale Saint-Étienne de Toulouse in French) consists of two incomplete churches (according to Wikipedia). It looks quite strange from the outside and even more from the inside. I usually have troubles with my tripod in many churches. They don’t like it when I use it (but most of the time I figure something out:). I was quite surprised I had no problem in Toulouse.
