Stop the Rain

Posted by on Jan 3, 2012 in Canon EOS 60D, France, HDR, Paris, Travel | 0 comments

Let me explain the “Stop the Rain”. It’s very simple. The weather was really ugly in Paris the day I took this picture. It was raining all over the place. I got fed up with the water and decided to take refuge in this great building. Of course I was reminded not to use the tripod. Well, at least I had my GorillaPod (tiny tripod, in case you don’t know). This made this photo possible. I guess I spent an hour in here and then the rain finally stopped. But that’s for another time…;-)

Edit: I know Paris is best during the rain but my camera does not agree;-)

Road to Sacre Coeur

It was a cold Friday night when me and my friend decided to go for a walk in Montmartre. It wasn’t only cold but it was also raining. Because I didn’t have much more time in Paris I took as many pictures as the weather allowed me. This photo is from the part when we were approaching the Sacre Coeur and in need of some warmth. Maybe it’s weird but I did not feel Christmas in any other part of Paris as much as in Montmartre.

This is probably the most photographed site in Paris. I made many photos of this tower but never from this angle.

Merry Christmas!

First of all, Merry Christmas to everyone!

Trey Ratcliff had a similar photo on his blog some time ago. I really liked it and I promised myself that when I’m next time in Paris, I have to go to that place. It’s in Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle which is located in Jardin des Plantes. Of course you cannot use tripods there. If I visited this museum the last time when I was in Paris, I’d be out of luck. I was prepared this time with my GorillaPod (which is just really small tripod you can mount on the railing) and I could take my usual three brackets with the low ISO setting. From the top it looks really amazing with all those stuffed animals and wonderful colors.
